We know that looking for a mastectomy or post surgery bra can be a bit of an overwhelming experience. Your body looks and feels different and it can be difficult to know what to look for and where to start!

So we've brought together some information to help you find a new bra that's perfect for you.

Should I wear a post-surgery bra?

Your medical team will be able to advise you on what they recommend you wear during your recovery from surgery.

What is a mastectomy bra?

Mastectomy bras are specially designed for women who have had a mastectomy (or lumpectomy).

What should I look for in a mastectomy bra?

It can be difficult to know where to start, can't it?

Here are some things you might want to consider when looking for a bra to wear post-surgery:

  • soft fabric for comfort

  • stretchy cups (to allow for breast forms and accommodate any slight differences between breast sizes)

  • soft seams

  • a supportive underband (the band that goes under the cups and around your ribcage)

  • no underwires

  • comfortable, adjustable bra straps

  • pocketed inner cups (to keep breast forms secure)

How should I measure for a mastectomy bra?

We've put together a guide to help you determine your correct size. Click here to read our guide to measuring yourself.

If you've had a single mastectomy, fit your bra to your natural breast.
